When the padding is gone from a note pad, I draw on the chipboard "stiff backer" with guides (e.g. rulers, stencils, objects to trace). I use letters to construct the "character" faces and images in a not so calligram manner. The end of the alphabet letters "XYZ" feature prominently as if they should have some deeper meaning than "JKL" or "CDE".
